Pokemon GO's totally overhauled Buddy Pokemon System is a very exciting change that builds on a pretty bare bones feature and offers players a ton of new ways to interact with their selected Buddy. Although everyone is excited about the new features, there are some confusing parts that might require a bit more explanation than is offered in-game.

A major part of the new Pokemon GO Buddy Pokemon System revolves around trying to get your Pokemon to the excited level every day. This makes leveling up loyalty a lot faster and ultimately helps unlock the best bonuses and rewards. Although there are a lot of ways to get your Buddy Pokemon excited, the fastest route is using a Poffin.

Pokemon GO Buddy Level

Poffins are a new item that were added to Pokemon go with the Buddy System update. They work great for filling your Buddy Pokemon's hearts and getting them excited, but there's a catch... They are primarily only available through the game's Shop (not through Gifts or Pokestops).

The item costs 100 gold in the game's Shop, which is just about $1 or two day's worth of Gym Coins in most regions. That's not a ton of cash, but obviously it can add up very quickly for players who are using the item as the main way to earn their buddy's loyalty. It's a great option if players are in a rush or don't have time to level up excitement by playing on select days, but definitely is not the best use of the in-game currency.

As Poffins are around longer, it will be interesting to see how they are incorporated into value Boxes or event rewards. New resources are always exciting, so long as they don't just become another microtransaction to manage.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
