Pokemon GO players who use the official GO Plus accessory have been a bit frustrated since the big Gym update that the device isn't able to collect items from those locations the same way it can from Pokestops. Thanks to the latest update, it sounds like that will no longer be a concern.

This Pokemon GO fix comes as a bit of a surprise after Nintendo recently explained that the company wasn't aware of any plans to update the GO Plus feature list at all. Nintendo Support offered the following response a few months ago after fans asked about updates to the device, "We are not aware of any plans to make changes to that behavior but keep an eye out for updates as they become available."

Luckily, it seems like Niantic was hard at work behind the scenes. The patch notes for update version 0.73.1 for Android and 1.43.1 for iOS confirmed that players can now spin the Photo Discs at Gyms with the Go Plus...

"Added the ability for Trainers to spin the Photo Disc at a Gym using the Pokémon GO Plus accessory."

The update to the GO Plus wasn't the only exciting change in the new patch notes either. Niantic also managed to correct the last premier ball bug, which has been plaguing Battle Raid players for over a month. The team also implemented a frequently requested Raid feature that will allow players to see how many trainers are in a Raid lobby before they drop their own pass in and commit to the encounter.

It's a bit of a running joke in the gaming community that Pokemon GO will always be full of bugs and server problems, but Niantic is clearly working hard to make the raiding experience as smooth as possible for players. These fixes are a good step in that direction and hopefully the company will soon address the rest of the Pokemon GO Raid bugs in a hurry, as well. Check back for updates on that in the coming weeks.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
