The legendary Pokemon of Pokemon GO live up to the status implied by their name. Many of these rare Pokemon serve as some of the most powerful allies when it comes to the GO Battle League and the various raids. However, actually getting these Pokemon from raids though is a difficult task to complete.

Raids have been part of Pokemon GO for years now, with them being the main method of obtaining legendary Pokemon. These challenges however usually require many players to participate at once, requiring either good luck or communication with a local Pokemon GO group in order to actually win.

Once players manage to defeat a legendary Pokemon in a raid, the actual capture encounter begins. This is much different from normal encounters though, with players limited to the Premier Balls earned from the battle to use for the capture. Berries can be used as well, but the Pokemon still has the chance to flee even before all the Premier Balls have been thrown.

As expected from a legendary Pokemon, the capture rates are not high. Even when boosted through any possible means, the odds of actually capturing a legendary Pokemon are much lower than the average Pokemon.

With the aforementioned amount of work that goes into defeating a legendary raid battle, many Pokemon GO players are unhappy with this current state. Even if players try again with their group at another raid, the battles still cost raid passes to participate. Since the most consistent way to get more raid passes is by directly purchasing them, many players are essentially paying money to gamble on getting a legendary Pokemon with no real way to guarantee a catch.

At this time many legendary Pokemon are ranked among the best counters for various battles against players, raid bosses, and members of Team GO Rocket. This makes the best assets in-game essentially unavailable for the majority of the playerbase. Because of this, many are beginning to feel burnt out with the game and discouraged by the catch odds.

What makes this so frustrating for many is how something that often requires a lot of outside planning and possible paid resources can essentially net players nothing. The legendary raid bosses additionally switch around every couple weeks as well, making some players feel an additional time pressure for the legendary Pokemon they want. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like this will be addressed in-game anytime soon, alienating many long-time players.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
