Pokemon GO is still going strong despite the current global pandemic. Some players may have noticed that during the current Sinnoh Throwback Challenge Event and during some of the past throwback challenge events that their incense items change from green to orange during some days. This isn't just a small aesthetic change and it means something that some players may want to take note of.

The color change of the incense isn't a bad thing and it won't prevent incense from being used to attract Pokemon in Pokemon GO. In fact, it will be attracting even more Pokemon as this color change signifies the incense's connection to a current event.

This cosmetic change of the classic incense item signifies that Pokemon corresponding with a current event will be attracted via that incense. During these incense days, more of a type of Pokemon that the incense day is based around will spawn for the player that sets off the incense. This is especially helpful for shiny hunters or players who want to grind out candy for the Pokemon that the event is based around.

Players don't need to be alarmed or worried about the change, but should try out using the incense if they see that it's turned orange. Last Incense Day was focused on water-types and dark-types with Carvanha being the most common spawn, being the most common.

From each hour during the event, the types will switch from one to the other of the two selected for the event. This makes planning walks and journeys around the event easier if players are only looking for Pokemon of one type and not the other. With the last Incense Day taking place on Sunday, May 17th, the next Incense Day event may not start or even be announced until June.

Pokemon GO players should exercise caution while playing during this pandemic and should follow proper social distancing around other players and non-players alike. Players should also follow any and all laws pertaining to travel and leaving homes in their current area of residence.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
