Pokemon GO fans around the world are preparing for Chikorita Community Day, but October will bring with it plenty of new content for fans to enjoy as well. As revealed by developer Niantic, part of the October festivities will include the addition of a new Field Research breakthrough reward in the form of the water-type legendary Pokemon Suicune.

Following in the footsteps of Raikou and Entei, Suicune is the final legendary beast Pokemon that needed to make its Field Research breakthrough debut in Pokemon GO. Like with past Field Research breakthrough rewards, Pokemon GO players will need to earn seven stamps by completing seven Field Research objectives on different days to unlock the chance to catch Suicune. Anyone interested in catching Suicune through Field Research will be able to do so beginning October 1 at 1pm PT.

Field Research will be changed up a bit in October, as the objectives will revolve around water-type Pokemon. It's also likely that other wild Pokemon encounters players unlock by completing objectives will feature water-type Pokemon as well.

Suicune's addition to Pokemon GO's Field Research means that Entei will soon be on the way out. Any Pokemon GO players that want to add Entei to their collection will want to make sure that they do so before the creature leaves on October 1. In the meantime, it remains to be seen which Pokemon will replace Suicune as a Field Research breakthrough reward in November, but it's possible it will be one of the Regitrio members.

Besides the addition of Suicune to the Field Research breakthrough program, October will likely see other major events in Pokemon GO as well. There has been speculation that October will see the debut of the first fourth generation Pokemon, and at the very least, fans should be able to look forward to another Halloween event.

Pokemon GO fans will just have to stay tuned to see what all October will have to offer.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
