The past few months have brought plenty of reports about people playing Pokemon GO when they shouldn't be. Over the weekend an actor played the game at the Golden Globes, while in Canada a man was fined for playing Pokemon GO at the wheel.

But the biggest case of someone playing Pokemon GO when they shouldn't actually involves a world leader. Erna Solberg, the Prime Minister of Norway, has now been caught playing the hit mobile game ahead of a meeting with President of the United States Donald Trump. Solberg is currently visiting the United States to discuss foreign relations between Norway and the US and it is the third meeting between herself and Trump.

While some fans speculated that Solberg may have wanted to get capture (North American region exclusive) Tauros during her visit, Norway's PM explained that that wasn't the reason she was playing. In an interview with Norweigan publication Dagbladet (translated via Google Translate), Solberg told them that "There was a way to send a message with Pokemon to the family at home."

This isn't the first time that Solberg has been caught playing a mobile game at an inopportune time. In 2016, Solberg was caught playing Pokemon GO in parliament.

In 2014, Solberg also told reporters that she had "beaten" King's massively popular game Candy Crush Saga by beating its 300th level. She is clearly an avid fan of mobile games and nothing, not even the pressure of major political affairs, can stop her from enjoying them.

Pokemon GO developer Niantic will be glad to see that it has such high profile fans. Other Pokemon GO players with celebrity status include pop sensation Justin Bieber (who was once spotted catching 'em all in Central Park), The Jonas Brothers, supermodel Chrissy Teigen, and even Monica Lewinsky.

Of all of those celebrity players, it seems that Solberg is the only one who continues to play the game regularly. Niantic will have a challenge on its hands keeping Solberg and other players like her engaged in the game in future (and winning back those lapsed fans).

The future does look bright on that front; Niantic has confirmed that it will introduce new social features this year and fans are still waiting for the PvP battle and Pokemon trading features. Solberg and co. will surely be delighted once these are released.

Pokemon GO is available for Android and iOS devices.
