With the new year around the corner, Niantic is launching a new event in Pokemon GO. As with any other event in Pokemon GO, there will be new tasks for players to complete and unique Pokemon to catch.

The Pokemon GO New Years 2022 event runs from December 21, 2021, until January 4, 2022. While the Field and Timed Research tasks listed below aren't difficult, that's still not a lot of time to complete them. So trainers looking to make the most of the event will want to jump in right away.

Event Exclusive Field Research

  • Catch 5 Pokemon: Hoothoot Encounter
  • Catch 10 Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle Encounter
  • Catch 15 Pokemon: Slowpoke Encounter
  • Earn 2 Candies Walking With Your Buddy: Slowpoke Encounter

Timed Research Step 1

  • Catch 10 Pokemon: 10x Pokeball
  • Walk 1km: 250x Stardust
  • Make 5 Curveball Throws: 5x Razz Berry
  • Complete Step 1: 2022 XP, Hoothoot Encounter, and 500x Stardust

Timed Research Step 2

  • Catch 7 Different Species of Pokemon: 5x Great Ball
  • Hatch an Egg: 1000x Stardust
  • Evolve 3 Pokemon: 5x Nanab Berry
  • Complete Step 2: 2022 XP, Pikachu Encounter, and 500x Stardust

Timed Research Step 3

  • Power Up Pokemon 5 Times: 5x Pinap Berry
  • Use 5 Berries to Help Catch Pokemon: 500XP
  • Earn 5 Hearts With Your Buddy: Wurmple Encounter
  • Complete Step 3 : 2022XP, 1x Poffin, 500x Stardust

Timed Research Step 4

  • Make 5 Great Throws: 5x Pinap Berry
  • Earn a Candy Walking With Your Buddy: Wobbuffet Encounter
  • Send 5 Gifts to Friends: 1x Kings Rock
  • Complete Step 4: 2022XP, Slowpoke Encounter, and 500x Stardust
