Pokemon GO players have been hunting down rare monsters for just about a full year now and there are still lots more to find. Many gamers aren't even close to completing their Pokedex, thanks to the addition of Gen 2, but there are still some Pokemon that are more sought after than others.

Shortly after the game launched last summer, the team at Decluttr pulled Google search data to determine which Pokemon were being searched for the most in each state. To celebrate the mobile AR game's one year anniversary, the website released a new map outlining how Gen 2 and a year of new data changed each state's most hunted monsters.

Here's a look at the 2017 map...

It doesn't come as much of a surprise that Pikachu is still at the top of the list. The Pokemon mascot is incredibly popular and just rare enough that new and old players are always trying to hunt down the electric mouse. Eevee is the second most popular, which is likely due to the Normal-type's exciting evolution options. Although most players now have plenty of the original three Eevee evolutions, Gen 2 added some new exciting options to the mix.

Eight states shifted from a most popular Gen 1 to a Gen 2 during the course of the last few months. A handful of other states are still hunting for the same Gen 1 as last year (mostly Pikachu, Eevee, or Mewtwo).

As the game continues to grow, and eventually adds in other new generations, we look forward to seeing these numbers shift. It seems likely that Pikachu will stay at the top of the list for the foreseeable future, unless some exciting Legendaries swoop in to steal the crown.

Pokemon GO is currently available in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
