Pokemon GO has a lot to offer to players these days, with a recently updated Field Research System, as well as another Pokemon GO Community Day in May. Recently Niantic has announced that it is planning to fix some Ingress portals that have been stuck in the "limbo" state for a while, and this indicates that Pokemon GO players could be seeing more PokeStops and Gyms pop up in their neighborhoods very soon.

Niantic's other mobile game, Ingress, has an option to request portals (similar to PokeStops and Gyms) in their neighborhoods. If enough players vote for a requested portal in Operation Portal Recon, the portal will be implemented and will appear in the game. Recently, many requested portals have been stuck in "limbo" where there are enough votes for a decision to be made about the portal’s status, but the decision hasn’t been implemented. Because of this, there has been a portal backlog, and since most portals in Ingress turn into PokeStops and Gyms, most assume that an influx is imminent.

Niantic has requested patience from players while it implementing the fix to the "limbo" Ingress portals, but because Ingress portals are imported as PokeStops and Gyms on a daily basis, new PokeStops and Gyms have already started appearing in some areas. As this fix continues to roll out, Pokemon GO players can expect a high influx of new PokeStops and Gyms appearing in some locations within the next week. We cannot say how many new PokeStops and Gyms players can expect, but from what has been observed so far, it might be quite a substantial number.

Even though the game still experiences some issues, Niantic is certainly putting in a lot of effort to continue to try and make Pokemon GO fun for players, especially with the introduction of features such as Field Research and events like the monthly Community Days.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS devices.
