In a few days, Pokemon GO players will have their first chance to obtain the legendary psychic-type Mewtwo for the first time ever without an EX Raid Invite. While this is a surprise for sure, many will likely welcome it, as this could be some players' first chance to wrap up the Kanto Pokedex, but those who have already obtained Mewtwo via an EX Raid will now have special legacy moves.

In the legendary's switch from EX Raid to Raid, it loses Hyper Beam and Shadow Ball, giving those players who have already obtained the powerful Pokemon in Pokemon GO something special. Of course, due to the wording, it seems Mewtwo caught via EX Raids from hereon can still learn these moves, but it's possible that Mewtwo is soon replaced in EX Raids with a Pokemon like Deoxys.

Removing these moves from the legendary's movepool cuts it back to two charged move possibilities: Focus Blast and Psychic. There has been some speculation that the moves becoming legacy moves will be replaced with Mewtwo's signature move Psystrike, but that is currently unknown at this time. Psyshock and Futuresight are two more moves that could be replacing Hyper Beam and Shadow Ball.

Of course, this decision to give Mewtwo a raid run comes as a result of the Ultra Bonus Reward, but it's not the only Pokemon on the current raid roster. For those interested, here's a full guide to every Ultra Bonus Raid Boss. Nevertheless, it's likely that Mewtwo remains the most desire Raid Boss of the time period, as its run ends on October 23.

Noticeably, this date occurs very close to Halloween. This is important to note because, last year, the first gen 3 pokemon were added as part of the Halloween event, so this timing supports theories that the first gen 4 Pokemon will be added as part of this event. Until then, good luck with Mewtwo, trainers!
