Pokemon GO’s May Community Day is just a few days away, which means players have Torchic and its evolutions on the brain. The weekend of May 19 Pokemon GO players will have three hours to catch as many of the Gen 3 creature as possible and expand their collection with shiny spawns, evolutions, and hopefully a few more surprises.

The basic idea of Community Day is pretty simple: Go out and catch a ton of pokemon for three hours, but this time around things are different. For players who need a little more direction than that, we’ve put together a comprehensive guide full of all the intel you need for the big day.

Be sure to keep in mind that this day would be a fantastic time to earn that gold Fire-type badge if you haven’t already acquired it. The badge isn't particular hard to obtain for players who have been around since the beginning, but this is a great opportunity for newer players to catch up.

Start and End Times

Starting in February 2019, Community Day events now always take place from 3-6pm local time, no matter where you are playing. The exclusive move is available until 7pm local time.

Special Move

The exclusive move for May 2019 is Blast Burn.

Make sure to evolve during the active time window (within an hour of the event ending) if you want to secure it.

Bonuses

3x Catch Stardust (Note: This is one of the most exciting bonuses! Be sure to take full advantaged of it.)

3 Hour Lures

Limited Time Field Research

Recent updates to the game’s code suggest that this Community Day, like last month’s, will temporarily offer special Field Research tasks that put an emphasis on the featured Pokemon. Be sure to claim your rewards and clear out a space for these quests if you want to see them.

Shiny Variant

Niantic usually doesn’t confirm the shiny chance until after the event has started, but keep an eye out for shiny Torchic while hunting. They’ve been a part of every other Community Day event, so we fully expect to see them on Sunday the 19th.

That’s everything we know at this point! Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
