Pokemon GO players already had Community Day this month, but apparently Niantic is delivering another three hour bonus event out of the blue. The short event, which offers some great in-game bonuses, will celebrate the release of a limited time Clamperl research task.

In addition to the chance to earn Clamperl as a limited research reward during the event window, players will also receive a 2x Catch Stardust bonus for Water-type Pokemon and there will be increased Water-type spawns during the event. Trainers who may be busy on February 23 will just need to be sure to start the Limited Research, but they don't have to finish it right away. Clamperl will still be the reward even for players who can't complete the task during the three hour window. That said, we're guessing the increased Water-type spawns are likely going to make the upcoming tasks much easier, so playing during the window is recommended if possible.

Event Date + Time

Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: Feb. 23, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. UTC (GMT +0)

The Americas and Greenland: Feb. 23, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8)

Asia-Pacific: Feb. 24, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST (GMT +9)

Features

Receive 2× Catch Stardust for Water-type Pokémon during the three-hour window.

Water-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event.

Limited Research tasks will be available when you spin Photo Discs at PokéStops.

Completing the Limited Research tasks will award you encounters with Clamperl.

For now, that's everything we know about the upcoming Clamperl event. It's possible that more details will be released closer to February 23, so be sure to keep eye out for more news. Limited Research events are very popular in the PoGO community, so this is likely to be a very successful February event that keeps players out and playing through the coldest part of the year in some regions.
