Today is the last day that Pokemon GO players can catch the legendary Pokemon Lugia, Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos. But although fans will miss the legendary birds when they are gone, developer Niantic is already lining up the next set of legendaries to replace them.

Niantic has announced that starting August 31, Pokemon GO will introduce the legendary Pokemon Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. The Johto-region characters will be available in Pokemon GO Raid battles across the globe, though there are some regional limitations. Electric-type legendary Raikou will be available in the Americas, Fire-type legendary Entei will be available in Europe and Africa, while Water-type legendary Suicune will be available in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Pokemon GO developer also explains that on September 30, the new legendary Pokemon will move to another region, where they will remain until October 31. Then, on October 31, the legendaries “will make their final stop in the last remaining location.” Given how giddy fans have gotten over other region-specific Pokemon, making the characters move from location to location is a smart way to get people talking about the game, without disappointing players who really want the new characters.

Niantic also stresses that the new legendary trio will only be available for a “limited time,” like the legendary birds before them. Although it’s unclear how long the October 31 stop on the Raikou, Entei and Suicune tour will last, fans will want to gather their friends and be prepared for these Raid battles just in case that tour date is a short one.

The arrival of new legendary Pokemon is certainly exciting for Pokemon GO fans, but it also indicates that Niantic has so much more up its sleeve. Raikou, Entei and Suicune were not expected to be the next legendaries, as many thought that it would be Ho-Oh instead. Ho-Oh did feature in the Pokemon GO legendary reveal trailer, after all.

This means that players will continue to be entertained by the game for some time to come. And for Niantic it also means that it can continue raking it in from its hit mobile game. Pokemon GO recently had its highest grossing day ever thanks to the arrival of legendary characters. So with Raikou, Entei and Suicune being just three names on a long list of potential legendaries, Pokemon GO could soon best its own revenue record.
