It hasn't even been a full day since the Regi-trio Colossal Discovery weekend event wrapped up, but Pokemon GO dataminers are already on to the next big thing. The community has been expecting a major Team Rocket-themed event thanks to a lot of hints from Professor Willow and the latest datamined details seem to confirm more of what Looming in the Shadows has in store for trainers.

As the conflict with Team Rocket grows, Pokemon GO trainers should expect some incoming clashes with the Rocket team leaders and, eventually, a battle against the leader of the whole evil organization: Giovanni! The latest datamine brings some new details about exactly how that storyline might play out in the mobile AR game. Once it's live, it sounds like this event will offer plenty to do and give players a break from catching the best Unova region Pokemon for a while.

There are some serious event spoilers ahead, so players who would prefer to go into the next Team Rocket research or event without knowing what's coming should stop reading here. Consider yourselves warned, trainers!

First off, Giovanni and a Giovanni badge seem to be confirmed via the hidden game code. An interesting new piece of information in this datamine is the fact that players will apparently be able to battle and defeat Giovanni multiple times. There are three levels to the new badge, like many badges, with the following requirements:

Defeat Giovanni once

Defeat Giovanni five times

Defeat Giovanni twenty times

This definitely suggests that Giovanni will be more like a Raid Boss than a traditional end of Special Research sort of encounter. The datamine went on to confirm three Team Rocket leaders and their preferred -types:

Arlo - Fire

Sierra - Flying

Cliff- Water

The last bit of data revealed some new grunts and decoys that Team Rocket will be throwing at trainers when the event kicks off...

Decoy Male Female Grunts

Electric Male and Female Grunts

Ghost Male and Female Grunts

Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
