Over the course of this month, a series of special events is bringing four Legendary Pokemon (Dakrai, Altered Forme Giratina, Cobalion, and Lugia) back to Pokemon GO's gyms. For some trainers, these special events are an exciting opportunity to catch some Legendaries that they may have previously missed. However, Niantic has even more in store for fans of Legendary Pokemon, as the developer has just revealed that Landorus will be added to Pokemon GO quite soon.

Specifically, the Legendary Pokemon Landorus will temporarily appear in the GO Battle League, as a rare reward encounter starting at rank four, beginning on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 1pm PDT. Additionally, this new Pokemon GO Legendary Pokemon will debut in five-star raids at the same time, and it will stay there until Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 1pm PDT.

First introduced in the Nintendo DS's Pokemon Black and White, Landorus is a Ground/Flying-type Pokemon, and its availability through the GO Battle League means that Pokemon GO players can obtain it without putting their health in jeopardy. Indeed, it is currently inadvisable for players to gather in groups, due to the coronavirus, and it is thus wise to let fans catch Landorus without participating in raids for the time being.

To note, Landorus is not the only new Pokemon headed to Pokemon GO soon, as the Mythical Pokemon Genesect will be available through a Special Research event that kicks off tomorrow, March 20. Called A Drive to Investigate, participating in the Genesect Special Research event requires the purchase of a virtual ticket. However, players need not worry if they are not able to do so, as this Mythical Pokemon will be found in EX Raids starting in April.

While the current state of the world is having an obvious impact on Pokemon GO, fueling decisions like the recent postponement of all upcoming Safari Zone events, it is clear that Niantic is committed to finding ways for players to continue enjoying the game safely. Hopefully, things will return to relative normalcy sooner rather than later, allowing Pokemon GO fans to get back to raiding and catching Legendary Pokemon the old fashioned way.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
