To the surprise of Pokemon GO players everywhere, Niantic released the Gen 4 legendary Pokemon Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit to the wild without any prior announcement or fanfare. Since the three legendary Pokemon have been added to Pokemon GO, more information on them has come to light, including some clarification on if they are region-exclusive Pokemon or not.

As many assumed, Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit in Pokemon GO are region-exclusives. Azelf is exclusive to the Americas, Uxie can be found in Asia, and Mesprit can be found in Europe. And while Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit are the first legendary Pokemon that can be found in the wild in Pokemon GO, actually stumbling upon them is unlikely. However, Niantic has now made it much easier to add these legendary Pokemon to one's Pokemon GO collection.

Niantic has added Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit to legendary raid battles in their specific regions from now until May 27. Like most legendary raids in Pokemon GO, actually taking on these legendary Pokemon is going to be easier said than done and will require a group of Pokemon trainers with especially powerful Pokemon at their disposal.

Unfortunately for some Pokemon GO players, getting together a group of players with powerful enough Pokemon to defeat Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit is a virtual impossibility. So it's nice that Niantic has still made it possible to catch the legendary Pokemon out in the wild. For those interested in catching Azelf, Uxie, or Mesprit in the wild, there are no exact Lake Trio coordinates available, but it's said that the Pokemon tend to spawn near lakes or other bodies of water.

In the future, Niantic may add more ways to catch Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit in Pokemon GO. Namely, it's possible that the Lake Trio will be added to the Field Research breakthrough box. Most legendary Pokemon seem to be cycled into the box at some point, so it does seem like a distinct possibility.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
