Latios and Latias flew away from Tier 5 Pokemon GO battle raids yesterday and today Niantic is already preparing to introduce the next Legendary raid encounter. Whether players are ready or not, Kyogre is returning to Pokemon GO battle raids starting today.

Rumors and theories about which Legendary would appear next have been circulating for weeks and it sounds like those on the Kyogre side of the bets have won. As part of Pokemon GO Water Festival 2018, Kyogre will reappear during the special event.

Here's the official announcement from Pokemon GO Live...

"Raid Battles will also feature powerful Water-type Pokémon for the duration of the celebration, including the exciting return of the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre. And, if you challenge Kyogre during the event and come out victorious, there is a chance you’ll encounter its Shiny form!"

If catching another Kyogre wasn't enough motivation to join in on some raids, catching a shiny Kyogre should definitely do the trick. Pokemon GO players love to hunt down shiny variants and this announcement is sure to sell a ton of Premium Raid Passes in the coming weeks.

The last round of legendaries had both Latias or Latios and Ho-Oh, so it will be interesting to see if Niantic adds another possible boss to the mix in the coming days or weeks. Stay tuned for updated.

Kyogre eggs should start to appear in just a few hours, so good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
