Pokemon GO players are now looking forward to the introduction of the next generation of Pokemon set to land in Niantic's hit mobile game. With the Kalos Celebration event kicking off today, trainers can finally meet Pokemon originally discovered in the Kalos region, such as Froakie, Noibat, and Klefki.

To mark this special Kalos Celebration, Niantic is also giving Trainers in Pokemon GO the opportunity to complete a new set of unique Timed Research tasks, and special event-exclusive Field Research, all of which lead to Kalos encounters and valuable Mega Energy rewards. The Kalos Celebration officially begins on December 2, 2020 at 10 AM, and will conclude on December 8, 2020 at 10 PM (local time).

Aside from new Research, the event introduces a collection of Pokemon normally found in Kalos, and establishes Pokemon GO's newest regional Pokemon: Klefki, which is only found in France. Given the fact that Pokemon's Kalos region is heavily inspired by France (or rather, the general notion of Paris), it's fitting to see Klefki join the regional ranks as a French native.

Aside from new Pokemon throughout the Pokemon GO wild, eggs, and Raid Battles, the event also challenges players with completing a new set of Research Tasks. Though this Timed Research doesn't offer any exciting Pokemon encounters, or a chance to catch a Shiny Pokemon, it does give players an opportunity to stock up on Mega Energy for the three original Kanto Starter Pokemon. The rewards aside from that are rather lackluster (minor amounts of XP/Stardust), but that being said, players who take on the Research will at least naturally work their ways through a checklist of some of the newly arrived Pokemon.

As shown above, the event provides a fair, if not average, palette of rewards for Trainers. And although there are a decent number of tasks, Pokemon Trainers thankfully won't find themselves working through something like Nidoran's 16 pages of Research tasks again. Hopefully, as the month unfolds, other Kalos natives (like the majestic Xerneas hidden in the promo image above!) will make their ways to Niantic's Pokemon.

Pokemon GO is available now on the App Store and Google Play.
