Pokemon GO players have been wrapping up the summer of events with an exciting increase in Gen 2 spawns that have taken over the game. The increased Johto-region spawns combined with the fantastic research encounter rewards have made it a great time to fill out the Gen 2 Pokedex and make a big dent in the Celebi special research. Unfortunately, it sounds like there are only a few days left to take advantage of the the festival.

According to a tweet from the official Pokemon GO Twitter account, the increased Gen 2 spawn rates will go away on August 28 at 1pm PT. That means that there are only four days left to get out and take advantage of the event. Players who still haven't completed their Johto dex should try to carve out a handful of hours this weekend for some hunting.

Here's a look at the official announcement on Twitter...

A similar event took place when the Mew Special Research launched, so this Gen 2 event had been predicted by many players. While the spawns are still increased, completionists may want to head out and try to hunt down the three new shinies that were released alongside the Johto Festival start.

Hopefully other events will arrive early in September to help fill the void left at the end of the Johto event, but right now players just have the standard Community Day to look forward to. We're sure it won't be long before something else special pops up on the calendar.

Check back for more news in the coming days. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
