The holiday events are beginning to come to a close and the transition to New Year’s is fast-approaching in Pokemon GO. The New Year event that helps transition from 2021 to 2022 is just the start of the party and the rest of the January 2022 calendar is equally jam-packed with excitement, bonuses, and new events.

The full Pokemon GO January events calendar is now live (even though trainers already knew about the New Year event) and players can find out what kind of special activities will be featured in the first month of the new year. There are only a handful of events coming, but they all look pretty interesting and should offer new lore and some exciting challenges and rewards for players throughout January. There's a lot to keep track of, so players will want to mark their calendars early.

The Season of Heritage carries on throughout January and it looks like trainers will be tasked with tackling a few Season-themed events that will help uncover more of the story and connect back to the Johto region once again. Players can obviously expect the New Year’s event and a Community Day, but the real excitement comes in the form of two new events: Mountains of Power and the Electric- and Steel-themed events inspired by the Kanto Power Plant…

Electric- and Steel-themed event inspired by the Kanto Power Plant

From Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. local time to Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. local time, continue working with Spark to gather up some electrifying Pokémon to activate the final part of the mysterious door. It seems that some nefarious forces have also caught wind of the door and the power it may contain...

Overall, it sounds like a pretty exciting month, though obviously a lot of that will depend on what the individual tasks and rewards look like for each event as they arrive. Players should check back closer to each event's start time for a full list of tasks and rewards to help determine where the most value can be found in January. Be sure to keep an eye on the today view in the app and wrap up any final December items over the next few days before the new year officially arrives.

That should be just about everything players know about the upcoming month, but we should learn more about other upcoming events - and that mysterious door - during the early days of the Season of Heritage. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
