Getting a workout? It's fantastic that video gaming, which used to be a sedentary activity, is now a full-fledged exercise program (depending on the game played, of course). Fans of Pokemon GO will have seen their time moving around outdoors drastically increase.

But how do gamers keep track of it all? What if they want to measure not just the time playing the game but the time in general? It would be nice if Pokemon GO could measure total movement, easy to enter into workout sheets and programs. With Adventure Sync, this is possible! Just turn it on.

How To Turn On Adventure Sync

Pokemon Go Turning On Adventure Sync Mode
  • Main Menu > Settings > Adventure Sync > Approve

Pokemon GO is a mobile game that can't be played on any other platform. So take advantage of that movement. Turn Adventure Sync on and make sure to hit approve when the mobile device asks for additional permissions. After reading all the fine print, of course.

There are only two reasons players might choose not to activate this mode. It will take up additional data, so those with strict plan requirements may want to turn this on and off (from the same settings screen) tactically. Also, this will be more taxing on the battery. Those who are short on battery life will also want to be careful.

Consider Downloading The Widget

  • Apple: Home Screen > Hold an empty area until the existing widgets wiggle > tap the '+' symbol in the upper-left corner > type in 'Pokemon GO' > tap 'Add Widget' > tap 'Done'
  • Android: Home Screen > Hold an empty area > tap 'Widgets' > type in 'Pokemon GO' > place widget

The widget for Pokemon GO, while Adventure Sync is on, will give players access to see how their workout is going or see how evolving creatures are progressing without opening the app.

This way, gamers won't have to constantly check to see if an egg has hatched or how far along they are in their fitness regimen.

Connecting To Google Fit And Apple Health

  • Google Fit: Open Settings > Google > Google Fit > Connected apps and devices > Tap Pokemon GO > Confirm
  • Apple Health: Open Apple Health > Sources > Tap Pokémon GO > Confirm

With technology similar to Bluetooth, many devices have no problem automatically connecting to one another. But because these are apps and not devices, software like Google Fit and Apple Health require permission to be given for Adventure Sync to connect to them.

This can be a complex process, about as difficult as attempting to change teams, but it is possible. Once it is connected, so long as any devices involved are on and powered, gamers will be able to track their exercise both in the game and on their favorite fitness app.

Pokemon GO is available now on Mobile devices.
