Pokemon GO's July Community Day is just a week away, which means players have Squirtle on the brain. This weekend Pokemon GO players will have three hours to catch as many of the Gen 1 starter as possible and expand their collection with shiny spawns, Squirtle Squad shades, and Hydro Cannon equipped Blastoise.

The basic idea of Community Day is pretty simple: Go out and catch a ton of pokemon for three hours. For players who need a little more direction than that, we’ve put together a comprehensive guide full of all the intel you need for the big day.

Special Move

Squirtle’s Exclusive Move is Hydro Cannon. Make sure to evolve during the active time window if you want to secure it.

Bonuses

Players will be able to hatch eggs at 1/4 distance during the event window.

Limited Time Field Research/Squirtle Squad

Recent updates to the game’s code suggest that this Community Day, like last month’s, will temporarily offer special Field Research tasks that put an emphasis on the featured pokemon. Be sure to claim your rewards and clear out a space for these quests if you want to see them.

The tweet hinting that Squirtle Squad shades would be available suggests that the spawn will have something to do with Field Research during the event. Be sure to keep an eye out for this as the day progresses.

Shiny Variant

Niantic usually doesn’t confirm the shiny chance until after the event has started, but keep an eye out for shiny Squirtles while hunting. They’ve been a part of every other Community Day event, so we fully expect to see them on Saturday.

That’s everything we know at this point! Check back for updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
