The fabled day of cross-gen evolutions has come to Niantic's mobile ARG Pokemon GO. Now, while not every single evolution has come to the game as of yet, we do know how to evolve the likes of Rhydon, Magmar, and Electabuzz into Rhypherior, Magmortar, and Electivire.

Of course, players will want to first save up their candy, as each evolution requires 100 candy, which is no surprise. For some, the surprise may be the addition of a new Pokemon GO evolutionary item: the Sinnoh Stone. Players will need it to evolve every new evolution related to the Sinnoh Region (one exception could be Glaceon and Leafeon due to Eevee's random nature).

To get a Sinnoh Stone, players will need to complete field research and unlock a Research Breakthrough. While this rewards players with a rare encounter, it will also give players the Sinnoh Stone. Considering there are over 20 species of Pokemon that are reliant upon this item that takes seven days to get, fulfilling the Sinnoh Pokedex will not be an easy task.

On the other hand, without some sort of safeguard, players could likely get most of these Pokemon almost instantly, as many have likely been saving candy since gen 4 was first teased. Still, Niantic may see fit to feature these items through future events, so hopefully, it won't take months to complete. Check out all the gen 4 cross evolutions below:

Regardless, as popular as these Pokemon are, players shouldn't be surprised to see them popping up in the coming days. After all, many players were likely near or right at November's Research Breakthrough when the evolutionary item was added to the game. Players should also be taking advantage of the on-going hatchathon event, which sees Rhyhorn, Elekid, and Magby hatching from 2 KM eggs.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
