At the end of May, Pokemon GO added its very first Alolan Pokemon to the game in the form of Alolan Exeggutor. Since then, the rest of the Alolan variants of first-generation Pokemon have been added to the game, and some trainers may be wondering how to add them all to their collection.

As it turns out, the same method won't work for catching every Alolan Pokemon, and Niantic has changed how some of them are caught in Pokemon GO. Considering this, it's possible that Niantic will change things up again in regards to how players can catch Alolan Pokemon. With that in mind, here is how Pokemon GO players can catch every Alolan Pokemon in the game as of August 2018.

In the Wild

  • Alolan Rattata

At the time of this writing, the only Alolan Pokemon available in the wild is Alolan Rattata. Previously, Alolan Diglett, Alolan Exeggutor, and Alolan Geodude have been available in the wild as well, typically during special events. Alolan Rattata, meanwhile, was available through 7km eggs for a time, but Niantic has since changed that, removing Alolan Rattata from eggs.

7km Eggs

  • Alolan Diglett
  • Alolan Geodude
  • Alolan Grimer
  • Alolan Meowth
  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Alolan Vulpix

7km eggs are the primary way players will add Alolan Pokemon to their collection, with six different Alolan Pokemon (and their evolved forms) only available by hatching them. The only way to get 7km eggs in the game is by receiving gifts from friends, so players will want to make sure they have some active players on their friends list.

Players should keep in mind that Niantic is constantly tweaking the egg rarity when it comes to Pokemon GO, but at the time of this writing, players have about a 4/21 chance in hatching everything except Alolan Vulpix. Alolan Vulpix remains the rarest Alolan Pokemon in the game, with a mere 1/21 hatch rate.

Evolution

  • Alolan Dugtrio
  • Alolan Golem
  • Alolan Graveler
  • Alolan Muk
  • Alolan Ninetails
  • Alolan Persian
  • Alolan Raticate
  • Alolan Sandslash

After catching Alolan Rattatas out in the wild and hatching the rest of the Alolan Pokemon from eggs, Pokemon GO players will want to evolve them all. Every Alolan Pokemon that can be caught in the wild or hatched from eggs has one evolved form, with the exception of Alolan Geodude, which first evolves into Alolan Graveler and then Alolan Golem. This means that players will need a minimum of 125 Geodude candy to obtain all of Alolan Geodude's forms in the game.

Raids

  • Alolan Exeggutor
  • Alolan Marowak
  • Alolan Raichu

Finally, there are three Alolan Pokemon that are currently only available in raids. However, since Alolan Exeggutor has previously been available to catch in the wild, it's possible that the other Pokemon listed here will one day be available in the wild or even through eggs.

Alolan Exeggutor is a Tier 2 raid boss, whereas Alolan Raichu is a Tier 3 raid boss, and Alolan Marowak is a Tier 4 raid boss. This means that players can defeat and catch both Alolan Exeggutor and Alolan Raichu solo if they have the right team, but they will need at least three people to take out Alolan Marowak in most situations. Seeing Alolan Pokemon in raids seems to be a fairly rare occurrence though, so players should keep an eye out.

As of August 2018, these methods are how players can catch Alolan Pokemon in Pokemon GO. As previously stated, it's entirely possible that Niantic will change the way certain Alolan Pokemon are obtained in the game, but for now, the methods listed here should work.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
