Pokemon GO has been keeping trainers busy recently with the Global Challenge Event, and it looks like users may have one more thing to look forward to soon. Players in Japan have discovered a Ho-Oh EX Raid that may indicate the Legendary creature will be available in the game soon.

The Raid was discovered near Tottori, Japan, at the Uradome Coast Pokemon Gym. According to those in the area, the Pokemon GO gym is still accessible despite the EX Raid going on. However, it's not possible to access the Raid itself, since EX Raids require a pass in order to participate. Although Niantic hasn't yet commented on the Raid, it's quite likely that the company is testing the Ho-Oh EX Raid before it actually goes live to the public in order to catch and correct any problems beforehand.

If Ho-Oh is released during the Safari Zone in Tottori, Japan to wrap up the Pokemon GO Global Challenge Event, it will most likely be made available in EX Raids worldwide shortly after, much like Mewtwo's EX Raids. However, this prospect may not please many Pokemon GO players. While Ho-Oh will no doubt be a welcome addition to the collections of the Pokemon trainers who are lucky enough to get it, many players still haven't managed to get Mewtwo due to the way the EX Raid invite system works.

That being said, it's clear that the game still has a vibrant, active community playing it. The Pokemon GO Global Challenge had a sluggish start, but ultimately picked up, with players across the globe catching a whopping 1.5 billion Pokemon and unlocking Pokemon GO's silver tier rewards. While the game may have some downsides for some players, it's clear that it still has continuing popularity overall over a year after its record-breaking release.

Players who want a Ho-Oh to call their own should stay tuned, as official news will most likely come during the conclusion of the Pokemon GO celebration tomorrow in Tottori, Japan.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
