As predicted, just about a week after Pokemon GO's Halloween extravaganza officially wrapped up, the mobile AR title is already rolling out its next special event starting today. The Hatchathaon focuses on some special appearances in Eggs and offers players a chance to prepare for Gen 4 evolutions and add a new shiny to their collections.

The Pokemon GO Hatchathon event is putting some special Pokemon in 2km Eggs to help the community stockpile candy needed for Gen 4 evolutions. This means that creatures like Rhyhorn, Porygon, and Magby are all showing up in 2km Eggs between now and November 27.

Here's a look at the official announcement...

In addition to the special appearances in 2km Eggs, this event also apparently marks the release of a new shiny: Elekid! Although the press release didn't explicitly mention Elekid in reference to 2km Eggs, the community has already hatched enough Eggs to confirm that it is a possible hatch during the event. That means players may want to pick up some Incubators and take advantage of the new Adventure Sync features to get the most out of this event.

Collecting shiny Pokemon doesn’t give the trainer any kind of advantage in battle, but it is still a fun additional challenge to add into the game. Shiny Pokemon are perfect for leaving in Gyms to show off to the rest of the community.

Be sure to check back later this week for plenty of Pokemon GO and Pokemon Let’s Go guides and news as the game launches. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is currently available in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
