Pokemon GO players who rely upon visiting Pokemon Gyms and PokeStops to collect items will notice a significant change in what they receive. Niantic has altered the drop rate from PokeStops and Gyms, drastically altering what's available from each.

The new change has caused Pokemon GO's Gyms to primarily drop Potions and Revives. PokeStops, on the other hand, now almost never drop Potions or Revives, and instead have a high drop rate of Pokeballs and Berries. In theory, this setup provides players who frequently battle at Gyms to receive the healing items their Pokemon need afterward, and those who focus on catching wild Pokemon can stick with PokeStops to get Pokeballs and Berries.

As the change has not been officially detailed by Niantic, players are only speculating as to why the items given for spinning Pokemon Gyms and PokeStops have been altered. While some players are enjoying the change, many have indicated that they play Pokemon GO in areas where they primarily have access to either Gyms or PokeStops - but not both - which is making it difficult to acquire the full variety of items they need. Some are also indicating that with Potions and Revives being stripped almost entirely from PokeStops mean that they can't earn enough of them solely from spinning Gyms to heal their Pokemon after battles.

Unfortunately for those who aren't enjoying the change, this is only the latest irritating experience that fans have endured with PokeStops. The game previously experienced a glitch that limited the number of drops from PokeStops to two for some players, which has since been fixed. With these latest limitations in drops in place, some players may be forced to spend more money on the Pokemon GO shop in order to acquire the in-game gear they need.

Since this change hasn't been officially detailed by Niantic, it's possible that more adjustments may follow, especially given the player feedback currently being voiced. With any luck, the developer will continue to adjust the system until it finds a middle ground that will allow players to continue enjoying the game the way they have until now.
