Catching legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO is no easy task. Doing so requires players to assemble a large group of experienced trainers with powerful Pokemon to complete the legendary raid, and then subsequently catching the legendary using a limited number of premier balls. To make catching legendary Pokemon easier, players can feed them Golden Razz Berries, but unfortunately, they have become a scarce resource in Pokemon GO.

For one reason or another, Niantic seems to have decreased the rate at which players earn Golden Razz Berries as a raid reward, in turn making it much more difficult to capture legendary Pokemon. The result is a frustrated community that has been complaining about the Golden Razz Berry issue on Reddit and other social forums.

Completing a legendary raid is hard enough, and so failing to capture a legendary Pokemon after defeating them in a raid can be one of the most frustrating experiences in all of Pokemon GO. And it doesn’t help that the latest legendary Pokemon added to the game, the legendary beasts from Pokemon Gold and Silver, have even lower catch rates than usual.

It’s clear that Niantic needs to make catching legendary Pokemon easier for Pokemon GO players by increasing the rate at which they receive Golden Razz Berries. If players continue to become frustrated with the raiding experience, then they may just stop participating in raids altogether, which would not bode well for Niantic or Pokemon GO.

Of course, legendary raids are still fairly new to the game, with the first ones appearing this past July, and so they’re likely to undergo some changes. Since Niantic decreased the Golden Razz Berry drops, it seems like it’s experimenting and trying to figure out the best way to implement legendary raids in the game, so fans should be able to expect more updates aimed at improving the legendary raid experience in the future.

In the meantime, determined Pokemon GO players will just have to keep using the best strategies to complete legendary raids and keep their fingers crossed that their premier balls are powerful enough to successfully catch one of the beasts.

Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
