Pokemon GO has several different methods for evolving Pokemon that fans have gotten used to since the game's launch in the summer of 2016. A Pokemon such as Eevee would typically evolve into one of its "Eeveelutions" by using a certain type of stone in the mainline games, but in Pokemon GO, getting a Pokemon like Jolteon requires a different method entirely.

Eevee can evolve into one of eight different forms, with each one having a unique elemental typing. While Jolteon is an Electric-type, there are others like the Ice-type Glaceon and the Dark-type Umbreon. For Pokemon GO trainers hoping to get a Jolteon on their team, there are a few methods that players can use.

How to Get Jolteon in Pokemon GO

Naming Trick

One of the more well-known ways to evolve Eevee into Jolteon is by using the famous naming trick that only exists in Pokemon GO. By changing the nickname of the Eevee before feeding it candy to evolve, it'll change to a specific Pokemon, depending on which name players choose.

To evolve Eevee into a Jolteon, players should change the name of their Eevee to Sparky by going to the Pokemon's profile page and pressing on the little pencil icon.

Once players have saved up 25 Eevee Candy, they can hit the evolve button, and the Eevee will transform into a Jolteon. It's worth noting that this naming trick can only be used once per evolution line. If the trick has been used already and players choose to evolve their Eevee, it'll instead evolve into a random Eeveelution.

  • Sparky - Will evolve into Jolteon, an Electric-type
  • Rea - Will evolve into Glaceon, an Ice-type

Trading

Another way to easily get a Jolteon in the game is by trading with another Pokemon GO player. If a player has a good friend willing to give up their Jolteon, trading can be a good option for those seeking a simple way to get their hands on this Eevee evolution. Players will just want to make sure that they're also trading a suitable Pokemon to the other player, so it's at least a fair trade.
