Pokemon GO is filled with plenty of things for players to do as they collect Pokemon, challenge gyms, and take down powerful raid bosses. To help out with these things, players can purchase items from the in-game store.

Everything in the Pokemon GO shop, for the most part, costs players PokeCoins. These can be earned in-game or be directly purchased from the store with real-world money. While it is faster to purchase Pokecoins, not everyone is willing to shell out the money.

How to Get PokeCoins in Pokemon GO

The main way players earn PokeCoins in-game is by having their Pokemon stay at gyms that their team has taken over. If players can't find a gym occupied by their team, players will have to challenge one and take it over themselves.

When players have their Pokemon in a gym, they will earn one PokeCoin every ten minutes it stays there. This, however, will cap at 50 coins, meaning that players can't get large sums from one gym. In addition, players will only get the PokeCoins from their Pokemon after being defeated and forced out of the Pokemon gym.

The 50 coin limit also spans multiple Pokemon per day, so if two Pokemon have reached the limit and are kicked out the same day, players will only get 50 coins. However, if one of the two Pokemon is kicked out one day and the second Pokemon is kicked out the second day, the players will get 100 coins since the cap refreshes at midnight in players' local times.

Because of how players earn PokeCoins through gyms, it is wise to try and have a Pokemon in many different gyms in different locations. This can help make sure that players at least reach the 50-coin limit and space out the possible time it will take for each Pokemon to be kicked out.

If players still want more PokeCoins, it is possible to directly purchase them as previously stated. The prices for them are the following:

PokeCoins can be incredibly helpful for players, even for those not looking to purchase items. They can be used to additionally purchase expansions to players' item bags and Pokemon Storage. This can be especially helpful with new Pokemon being constantly added to Pokemon GO. Players can additionally purchase a Team Medallion to switch teams for 1,000 PokeCoins.
