While it originally launched with just Gen 1 Pokemon from the Kanto region, Pokemon GO has since greatly expanded its roster of available Pokemon. Recently, Gen 6 Pokemon have been added to the popular augmented reality mobile game, and it seems even more Gen 6 Pokemon are on the way soon. Niantic has been cryptically teasing the addition of new Gen 6 Pokemon to Pokemon GO, pointing out two Pokemon in particular.

Niantic has tweeted out Pokedex entries for two Gen 6 Pokemon that will presumably be coming to Pokemon GO in an upcoming update. A specific release date wasn't provided, but the tweets suggest that the Dragon-type Pokemon Goomy and the Fairy-type Pokemon Swirlix will be added to Pokemon GO sooner rather than later. Presumably, these Pokemon will come with their evolutions as well, but that has yet to be confirmed.

In the case of Swirlix, it evolves into Slurpuff when it is holding the Whipped Dream item. The Whipped Dream item does not currently exist in Pokemon GO, but maybe it too will be added to the game as a new evolution item for players to use. Then again, Niantic has been known to move away from the evolution requirements of certain Pokemon in Pokemon GO, and so it's entirely possible that Swirlix will simply evolve when players give it enough candy. Swirlix is often considered one of the weirdest-looking Pokemon in the franchise, so it will be interesting to see if perception of it changes with its Pokemon GO debut.

Goomy, meanwhile, has two evolutions, and one of its evolutions also has a unique requirement. In the core Pokemon games, Goomy evolves into Sliggoo once it hits level 40, so it's highly likely that Pokemon GO players will just need to get Goomy candy for its first evolution. However, for Sliggoo to evolve into its final form, Goodra, the weather needs to be Rain or Fog. It's possible Niantic will have a similar requirement when evolving Sliggoo to Goodra, but a more likely scenario is that players will just need to collect more Goomy candy instead.

Goomy and Swirlix coming to Pokemon GO match up with a previous leak about Gen 6 Pokemon in the game. For the uninitiated, dataminers found evidence of many more Gen 6 Pokemon coming to Pokemon GO soon. With Niantic basically confirming Goomy and Swirlix for the augmented reality game, it stands to reason that the rest of the Pokemon GO Gen 6 leak is likely accurate, and so fans should be able to expect many more for the game soon.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
