Generation 5 of the Pokemon franchise is coming to Pokemon GO. Niantic has confirmed that the first wave of Gen 5 Pokemon will be releasing on September 16 as part of Pokemon GO's summer Ultra Bonus rewards. Only three Pokemon, and their respective evolutions, will launch in this first wave: Patrat, Lillipup, and Klink. However, a new Pokemon GO datamine shows that Niantic is ready to release many more Gen 5 Pokemon into the mobile game.

A Pokemon GO dataminer known as Chrales on Twitter recently released three graphics showing newly discovered Pokemon from the game's files. These graphics show in-game models for both the standard and Shiny forms of each of the new Pokemon. In total, 62 Gen 5 Pokemon have been found in Pokemon GO's files, including the eight planned for release on September 16. All 62 Pokemon have Shiny forms within the game files already, too.

The datamined Gen 5 Pokemon include the three Pokemon Black and Pokemon White starter Pokemon: Tepig, Snivy, and Oshawatt. Odds are that these Pokemon will be rare finds, and they will be offered alongside their Shiny forms during Pokemon GO Community Days. Also included are three Gen 5 Legendary Pokemon, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion, which are three of the so-called "Sword of Justice" Pokemon quartet. The remaining Sword, Keldeo, is surprisingly absent.

In all, Gen 5 of Pokemon adds an impressive 156 Pokemon to the overall pool of critters. This datamine has only discovered 62, so there are plenty of remaining Pokemon left for Niantic to continue working on. As for when these Gen 5 Pokemon will be added to Pokemon GO, it's anyone's guess, but odds are they'll be released in small waves or for Pokemon GO events.

Pokemon's Generation 5 includes the games Pokemon Black, Pokemon White, Pokemon Black 2, and Pokemon White 2. It takes place in the Unova region, which is said to be based on the real-life city of New York. Gen 5 is one of the Pokemon franchise's most interesting generations, as it marked a shift in style and design for Pokemon. It's also the generation that introduced seasonal changes, triple battles, and rotational battles, but Pokemon GO will probably just focus on the new Gen 5 Pokemon.

Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android devices.
