Over the past few months, Niantic has been aggressive about releasing new Gen 4 Pokemon in Pokemon GO, to the point that the company has nearly added all of them to the game. However, there are still some Gen 4 Pokemon that are missing from Pokemon GO, and those trying to complete their Pokedex may be curious as to who they are.

As of July 11, 2019, these are all of the Gen 4 Pokemon that are still missing from Pokemon GO.

As illustrated by the list of Gen 4 Pokemon still missing from Pokemon GO, the only Pokemon left to add are nearly all legendary or mythic Pokemon. Considering this, it's likely that most of this list will be completed through raids (in the case of the legendary Pokemon) and Special Research (when it comes to the mythic Pokemon). However, it's unclear when exactly Gen 4 legendary Pokemon like Darkrai will actually come to Pokemon GO, as Niantic is currently hosting other Pokemon in legendary raids instead, like Armored Mewtwo.

The rest of the Gen 4 Pokemon that aren't in Pokemon GO yet are likely not in the game already as Niantic is trying to figure out how best to introduce them. For example, Mime Jr presents a unique challenge because it is the baby form of Mr. Mime, a Pokemon that's exclusive to Europe. If Niantic were to release Mime Jr only in Europe, it could upset fans that the region is getting a second region-exclusive Pokemon. Alternatively, giving Mime Jr to everyone could make European fans feel shortchanged as they would no longer have their regional exclusive.

Niantic has figured out ways to add potentially problematic Pokemon to Pokemon GO in the past, like it did with Smeargle, so it will no doubt come up with clever solutions when it comes to Mime Jr and Rotom as well. In the meantime, Pokemon GO fans can expect most of these Gen 4 Pokemon to be added to the game before Niantic starts rolling out Gen 5 Pokemon.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
