With Pokemon GO's Halloween event promising improved spawn rates for a range of spooky Pokemon, trainers everywhere now have the perfect opportunity to stock up on candies for those creatures that have future evolutions on the way. Of course, many of these new Generation 3 Pokemon won't actually see another form coming until the popular AR title releases yet another wave of 'mons into the wild, but there is no better time to begin the grind.

Since the Halloween Pokemon GO event has introduced players to the game's first supply of Gen 3 Pokemon, trainers are finally able to catch the Ghost-Type Misdreavus and Duskull, both of which have evolutions present in Generation 4. By catching and transferring as many of the paranormal creatures as possible now, trainers should have sufficient candy to immediately evolve the Pokemon when Gen 4 releases.

Misdreavus will evolve into Mismagius once the future generation of Pokemon releases, which is certain to come with a significant power boost on top of filling out the trainer's ever-growing Pokedex. As for Duskull, the grim reaper-esque Pokemon can already evolve into Dusclops at present, but the creature will gain a secondary evolution in the form of Dusknoir when provided access to a Reaper Cloth.

Another Pokemon that is worth watching out for is the Dark/Flying-Type Murkrow. Although the bird Pokemon was actually introduced in Gen 2, Murkrow's spawn rate should still be increased for the Halloween event and stocking up on candies now will allow trainers to evolve their best candidate into a Honchkrow once Gen 4 is active.

Of course, it's likely going to be a while before we see any of these evolutions begin to appear, seeing as we're still waiting on the full release of the third generation. It's worth considering that Pokemon GO is over a year old at this point and, so far, only two waves of Pokemon have been released which probably means that a fourth wave will probably be surfacing this time next year.

Right now, the appearance of Misdreavus and Duskull allows us to assume that we're close to an update that will bring a new generation of Pokemon into the game - something that is sure to bring back the game's fanbase for at least a few weeks. Legendary Pokemon have proven to be a welcome distraction from the monotony of Pokemon GO's endgame, but players are once again feeling a little drained by the lack of variety that the title holds when logging in each day.

Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
