Previously, Niantic stated that generation-three Pokémon would be added to Pokémon GO “starting gradually” in December. This bit of news accompanied the generation three Ghost-type Pokémon that became available around Halloween, but now it seems the starters will soon be available themselves.

Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip all appear in a new Pokémon GO ad on the Apple Watch app store. Each of these Pokémon were popular starters for Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, and the ad appears to be identical to the Halloween ad (with the substitution of the starters for the Ghost-types). It is also worth noting that Dataminers have discovered a plethora of new moves for the game, though none are usable at the moment.

With this information in mind, it may be meaningful that the Halloween Pokémon were noticed in an Apple Watch ad before officially being announced for Pokémon GO. This news seems to suggest that information related to the Hoenn starters will come soon, which may be highly anticipated by a lot of players.

While the notion of the generation-three starters may be enticing for many players, many others may also clamor for the legendaries of Hoenn to join the game. For those having a difficult time catching Ho-oh, raids for Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latias, Latios, Groudon, Kyogre, or Rayquaza may appear in the coming months, giving players another chance at a legendary Pokémon. In other words, generation three has a lot to offer players as far as legendary Pokémon go; however, it is unknown to what capacity and length any of these legendaries may appear in the game.

Hopefully, the continued addition of generation-three Pokémon will do much to alleviate the concerns of discouraged players. This new content may at least add another element to the game, which was becoming monotonous to some players. With Niantic’s continued success and support for Pokémon GO, its reputation suggests that this attitude may be a priority for the game as the company looks at additional mode and features.

In the meantime, Pokémon GO players may at least await more details about generation-three Pokémon. Their release may be “gradual” over the coming month(s), but the anticipation may make time go quicker for excited players.

Pokemon GO is currently available for Android and iOS.
