Pokemon GO's big annual celebration is just a few weeks away and players are going to get a chance to start celebrating GO Fest 2020 a little early. This year, there will be three weeks of exciting challenges and tasks leading up to the global event and trainers will have the opportunity to unlock some exciting rewards by working together as a team to complete some big challenges for the next three weeks.

As a part of the weekly challenges leading up to GO Fest 2020, trainers are going to be able to take advantage of some special spawns, features, and rewards. A few of those details have already been shared with the Pokemon GO community in a recent press release, including the addition of the iconic Flying Pikachu.

Flying Pikachu is most well-known by fans of the Pokemon collectible card game, but soon it will be a popular part of Pokemon GO collections, as well. The new Pokemon is arriving alongside Shiny Pidove, and Ducklett as part of Skill-themed first week of challenges. Although players already knew that Flying Pikachu was on the way, the question of what it would actually look has remained until the latest asset update offered a sneak peek.

As always, keep in mind that the following image was acquired through datamining and has not been officially revealed or confirmed by Niantic at this point. The final version that appears in the game is subject to change and may not appear exactly like what was discovered by the dataminers. That said, the release of Flying Pikachu is right around the corner, so there's not a ton of time to make additional changes at this point.

Players who are fans of the Pokemon TCG will be pleased to see that the final character model for Flying Pikachu appears to be heavily influenced by the original card that helped make this variation so popular. The iconic balloons have returned and are now canon in Pokemon GO.

Flying Pikachu is pretty popular variation in the franchise, so it seems like this will be a popular Pokemon to collect and use for trade bait in the future. For fans who have been getting sick of Pikachu just wearing different hats for every event, but this a great variation that offers something a little different. It isn't likely to have much of an impact on the PvE or PvP metagame in Pokemon GO, but it will still be a nice addition to everyone's collection and can be used to show off while defending local Gyms.

As trainers continue waiting for the big GO Fest activities to begin, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
