The launch of Pokemon GO's new research feature may only be days away at this point, but that hasn't kept some determined fans from finding out everything they possibly can about the AR game's next major update. Said fans have successfully datamined the game's most recent update package, and their efforts have revealed a wealth of information concerning the additions that Pokemon GO will soon be receiving.

Niantic revealed the basic details about field research and what players can expect from it earlier in the week, but this datamine has yielded plenty of juicy information for fans to tide themselves over with until the update's official release date. The vague knowledge that players will have "multiple research tasks each day" has been augmented with both the general form these quests will take and the sorts of rewards they will yield. It's all right there in the pre-launch update; it just took the right people to find it.

Specifically, the dataminers discovered code referencing the kinds of tasks involved in these quests, the fact that there will be at least two different tiers for research goals, and that completing these quests can yield any of seven different types of rewards. Lower tier quests seem to be aimed at beginners and involve actions such as spinning Pokestops and reaching specific level milestones. The higher tier quests appear to be for more advanced players and ask them to perform tasks ranging from conducting different throw types to spinning unique Pokestops.

Fulfilling these quests can yield minor rewards such as consumable items, experience, and Stardust, but players can also gain more valuable prizes including other quests, candy, avatar clothing items and even special Pokemon encounters. Niantic already announced that players will get chances at special encounters through collecting daily stamps, but having them trigger after completing a quest would likely make them that much more exciting.

Professor Willow also appears to be getting a larger role in the game once the update hits. Not only will he appear on the loading screen, but he will also have is own 3D model and will interact with players. Several expressions for Willow were discovered in the games files including: happy, admiring, impatient, and frustrated. It is not clear what exactly he'll be reacting to yet. Perhaps he'll be admiring the player's newly caught Mew.

Pokemon GO has been on an upward trend lately; one that shows no indication of slowing down soon. Special events like the game's community days have helped it greatly, but it's additions like this that will enable Niantic's AR game to see continued success in the future.

Pokemon GO is currently available for iOS and Android mobile devices.
