Ever since it first made its way onto the mobile phone marketplaces back in 2016, Pokemon GO has had a constant and consistent flow of content keeping its players busy. Research Breakthrough quests, in particular, have been used to give players a surefire way of getting specific pocket monsters without relying on RNG, and this trend is set to continue for the foreseeable future.

Namely, Niantic has just announced that Pokemon GO is getting another novel variant of Pokemon: specifically, a Galarian version of one of the older species that players are bound to already be familiar with. This pocket monster will be available as a Research Breakthrough encounter until August 31, providing collectors with a good way of accessing this curious creature for the next couple of weeks.

The new Research Breakthrough reward is none other than the Trap Pokemon: Galarian Stunfisk. This underlines Niantic's push to feature Galarian Pokemon species, as it was recently announced that Pokemon GO would get the Galarian Zigzagoon as part of this month's Community Day festivities. Featured in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield games, this region is primarily inspired by the United Kingdom, and its species have adapted accordingly.

To celebrate the Galarian region properly, Niantic has also prepared a whole slew of August 2022 events in Pokemon GO. In the specific case of the Galarian Stunfisk, players have the opportunity to complete the required Research Breakthrough objectives until August 31, 13:00 PDT. Doing so will afford them a chance to capture the creature and add it to their collections. Particularly savvy players can even get multiple such encounters until the time runs out, with a small chance to come across a shiny Stunfisk, to boot.

One interesting feature that might get more players to engage with the game more is the fact that Pokemon GO is adding Daily Adventure Incense. This unique Incense is a permanent addition to the players' inventories that recharges on a daily basis. Instead of having to spend money whenever they want 15 minutes' worth of increased spawns, players can now simply wait for their new Incense to recharge and get on with it.

As handy as Daily Adventure Incense might be, it wasn't enough to take the players' attention away from GO's poor handling of Pokemon Eggs. Namely, the Pokemon GO community wants a new Egg feature that, at face value, seems like an easy thing to implement: Egg deletion. This, however, may not be implemented anytime soon, as doing so would allow players to easily remove unwanted eggs, therefore reducing the usefulness of paid Egg Incubator items. Thankfully, at least the Galarian Stunfisk doesn't need to be hatched for players to access the species.

Pokemon GO is available on iOS and Android mobile devices.
