Pokemon GO players have spent the last few weeks of September burning through incubators and hiking all over their towns in an attempt to hatch as many 7km eggs as possible before the Ultra Reward bonuses come to an end. Luckily, it sounds like players who haven't had much luck so far are going to get a few extra days to earn those region exclusives.

During the event, eggs received from Gifts have the chance to include Gen 1 region exclusive Pokemon, in addition to the usual Alola options. This offers Pokemon GO players the opportunity to complete the Kanto dex without traveling around the world or hunting down Friends who have the super rare Pokemon available for trades.

Players were very disappointed when they found out that the regionals were still very rare in 7km eggs, which felt like a way for Niantic to sell as many super incubators as possible. Perhaps to help get back on the community's good side, Niantic is now extending the event by a full week...

The whole Ultra Bonus event seems to have been designed to help players wrap up the Kanto dex so that the game can move forward to a new generation. With that in mind, it makes sense that Niantic would want to do as much as possible to help players feel a sense of completion with Gen 1.

Hopefully this means that the long-rumored release of Gen 4 is right around the corner. It's possible that the next generation will start rolling out as part of upcoming holiday events over the next few months.

We'll be sure to post new updates and guides as soon as there is more to report on the impending Gen 4 launch. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
