EX Raids may still be one of Pokemon GO's most divisive features, but the invite-only events aren't going away any time soon. The special raids offer the chance to catch extra rare Legendary Pokemon and the latest rotation will bring a new Pokedex entry to the game for many players who didn't participate in the Colossal Discovery Special Research event.

The Colossal Discovery Special Research offered players (who were willing to pay the event entry fee) an encounter with Regigigas if they managed to finish all of the tasks, but aside from that the Pokemon GO Legendary hasn't been available in the game yet. Pokemon GO Regigigas release

According to the latest information, it sounds like Regigigas will be taking over the EX Raid scene starting today and sticking around until January 7, 2020. That means players who want to obtain the new Legendary should take a break from hunting down the most powerful Unova region Pokemon and start raiding at EX locations and trying to secure an invite as soon as possible.

“The Pokémon Company have confirmed the end date for Regigigas in EX Raids. With the first EX Raids for Regigigas starting on Tuesday next week, it is now confirmed that the EX Raids for Regigigas will run until January 7th 2020. At present we have no further details on what will replace it following that.”

Players should also keep in mind that it's possible to secure an invite from a friend in the game, as well. Each person who received an EX Raid invite has the chance to invite one in-game friend along for the adventure. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity while Regigigas is around.
