Pokemon GO's event-filled July is finally coming to a close, but that doesn't mean the summer of excitement is over for the mobile AR game. In addition to the upcoming August Eevee-themed Community Day, there are sure to be other events popping up throughout the month. A leaker who has been correct about in-game events in the past suggests that the first August event is going to be a huge one.

A new rumor, started by a recurring Pokemon GO event leaker, suggests that next week there will be an Evolution Event with some of the best event rewards to date. The event would include the release of some Gen 4 Pokemon, who are evolutions of Pokemon from the first three generations.

Here are the details about the possible event, according to the source...

pokemon-go-anniversary-year-2

-Gen 4 evolutions of previous gen pokemon (they mentioned Magmortar, Electrivire and Rhyperior specifically) (note: this looks like the first wave of gen 4, just like babies were in gen 2 and halloween in gen 3)

-New evolution items, including elemental stones (not sure about this, they never had fire stone and such so I'm confused)

-Double XP for evolving and spinning pokestops

-Pokemon max storage increased to 2000

-Increased rate of evolution items from pokestops

-Increased spawn rate of evolved pokemon

-Gen 3 evolutions finally released in the wild (except Milotic)

-New quests that reward evolution items

-New raids with previous evolution item pokemon (they mention Scizor as example)

-New shop boxes with lucky eggs and raid passes

-We will get a new update before the event

This leak comes from the source who leaked the Water Festival and another double experience event before Niantic had mentioned either. Regardless of his past track record, this is definitely still in the realm of rumors and has not been confirmed by Niantic at this point.

The biggest strike against this rumor may be that it sounds too good to be true. Most events don't include quite that many special activities, changes, and opportunities all at once. The lease of new Pokemon, new items, special Raid bosses, and a ton more just feels like a lot for a surprise event.

That said, slowly rolling out the first few Gen 4 Pokemon as part of a limited time event makes sense with Niantic's new Gen release strategies so far, so it is possible. If the event is real, it's sure to be a massive hit and get a ton of players out and about in the beginning of August.

We'll continue monitoring the rumor and post an update once the event has been confirmed or debunked. Until then, good luck out there, trainers.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
