Mewtwo is heading to Raid Battles in Pokemon GO, and the last thing players want is widespread issues messing with their game ahead of the event, but that's just what's been happening. Luckily, Niantic was quick to jump on the case, and has since revolved the problems affecting the game.

According to The Silph Road Subreddit and Twitter, as well as various reports from the players themselves, the game was seeing problems ranging from random trainer avatar changes to missing badges. Even the maps were going blank for some, which is pretty much crippling to an AR game like Pokemon GO.

Niantic managed to isolate and resolve the issues, and reported the good news through the company's support account on Twitter. Those still experiencing any of these problems are being told to restart the app.

Now that that unpleasantness is behind them, players can now focus on catching Mewtwo, who will be available in Raid Battles later today. Previously, the legendary psychic Pokemon could only be encountered in the EX Raid, but no more. Unfortunately, this comes with a few snags, as Mewtwo will be losing some moves in the transition.

Hyper Beam and Shadow Ball have been removed, which is sure to disappoint players. However, those that have already obtained Mewtwo ahead of the switch won't see their Pokemon affected, making their efforts in the EX Raid still worthwhile. It's currently unknown what these moves will be replaced with, but some speculate one of them could be Mewtwo's signature move Psystrike. Psyshock and Futuresight are also possible replacements.

As for what challenges still await players in EX Raids, it was recently revealed that another legendary psychic-type will be taking Mewtwo's place. According to notifications a select few Pokemon GO players received, Deoxys will soon be available to challenge in the EX Raid. There's no more information available just yet, but we expect Niantic will drop more details soon.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
