Pokemon GO Ultra Reward Dragon Week is a thing of the past and Enigma Week is in full effect. Although there is no timed research for players to work through, there are still plenty of exciting spawns, bonuses, and a very interesting Battle Raid lineup. In addition to some powerful Pokemon up for grabs in the Raids, there is also a new shiny Legendary chance that many players will likely want to make an attempt at.

Deoxys originally appeared as an EX Raid boss and replaced Mewtwo in the controversial invite-only tier of raiding. Not only is the Legendary Psychic-type going to be easier to obtain now that it will be a 5-star boss all week during a popular event, but it also has a shiny chance which should bring a lot of Pokemon GO collectors out of the woodwork to raid like crazy all week in order to obtain the rare version of the Pokemon.

In order to encounter a shiny Deoxys players are going to need luck on their side, a handful of Raid Passes, and the right set of counters prepared to easily defeat the powerful psychic type in whichever form it appears. Deoxys is a Psychic-type only, which means that is weak against Ghost-, Dark-, and Bug-type Pokemon. Players who already have a battle roster saved for Mewtwo may find themselves just making a few minor tweaks and reusing that one this time around. Also, be sure to keep in mind that Poison- and Fighting-types will both be incredibly ineffective and fragile up against a powerful Psychic-type, so leave those Pokemon on the bench this time around.

Best Counters

Shadow Tyranitar - Bite/Crunch

Giratina (Origin) - Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball

Shadow Weavile - Snarl/Foul Play

Chandelure - Hex/Shadow Ball

Darkrai - Snarl/Dark Pulse

Good Counters

Shadow Scizor - Fury Cutter/X-Scissor

Tyranitar - Bite/Crunch

Mewtwo (shadow or regular) - Psycho Cut/Shadow Ball

Houndoom - Snarl/Foul Play

Luckily, the previous appearance of other powerful Psychic-types in 5-star raids should mean that most players already have some variation of this potential roster powered up and ready to go. Players who purchased a ticket to GO Fest 2020 should have a guaranteed Shadow Mewtwo if they finished the Research, so this will be a great time to put that new powerhouse to good work. Other optimal counters like Shadow Ttar are likely still fairly rare for the average player, but just stick to the strongest Ghost, Dark, or Bug-types available and head into the raid with five or more people and things should go smoothly.

As trainers continue working through these events, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
