The October calendar of events in Pokemon GO is live now and it’s going to be a very busy couple of weeks leading up to this year’s big Halloween festivities in the mobile AR game. The early October action continues this weekend as the next Community Day afternoon approaches and players get ready to head out in search of Duskull.

Duskull Community Day will kick off on Saturday, October 9 and is going to offer players the chance to rack up a boatload of extra Stardust while tracking down Shiny spawns and unlocking exclusive moves. As always, there are a ton of features and bonuses for Pokemon GO trainers to keep track of during the short event if they want to get the most value out of it.

Duskull is a pretty popular Pokemon for a non-starter and it makes sense for it to receive the spotlight during the spooky season. Typically the Duskull evolution isn’t all that relevant to the Pokemon GO PvE metagame, but there’s always the chance that the exclusive move could help make it a little more popular on the PvP side.

Date

Community Day will run on Saturday, October 9, 2021

Start and End Times

11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time on each day

Starting in February 2019, Community Day events now always take place on local time, no matter where you are playing. That changes a bit over the winter months as the time is split between hemispheres rather than time zones. It looks like we're back to one time at this point though.

Special Move

Evolve Dusclops (Duskull’s Evolution) during the event or up to two hours afterward to get a Dusknoir that knows the Charged Attack Shadow Ball.

Make sure to evolve during the active time window (within two hours of the event ending) if you want to secure the exclusive move.

Event Features

  • Duskull will be appearing more frequently in the wild! If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!
  • To help you evolve your Dusclops into Dusknoir, you’ll be able to earn up to four Sinnoh Stones by completing free Timed Research during Duskull Community Day.
  • 30 Ultra Balls will be available in the shop at no cost. Be sure to pick them up during the event!
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
  • There’ll be a special one-time-purchase Community Day Box available for 1,280 PokéCoins, featuring 50 Ultra Balls, four Incense, four Star Pieces, and an Elite Charged TM.
  • For US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the Duskull Community Day–exclusive Special Research story, Nothin' Dull About Duskull.
  • Stay tuned for when tickets for the Nothin' Dull About Duskull Special Research story go live! Tickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Please note that this Special Research will not include an in-game medal.

Bonuses

  • 3× Catch Stardust
  • Incense activated during the event will last for three hours
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours

Limited Time Field Research

Recent updates to the game’s code suggest that this Community Day, like last month’s, will temporarily offer special Field Research tasks that put an emphasis on the featured Pokemon. Be sure to claim your rewards and clear out a space for these quests if you want to see them.

Shiny Variant

Niantic usually doesn’t confirm the shiny chance until after the event has started, but keep an eye out for shiny Duskull while hunting. They’ve been a part of every other Community Day event, so we fully expect to see them this month, as well.

That’s everything we know at this point! Duskull’s big day is just around the corner, so be sure to take care of any preparations to inventory and storage space now. Be sure to check back in the near future throughout the rest of the Season of Mischief for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
