July 31 marks the first day of Dragon Week in Pokemon GO. After unlocking three weeks of Ultra Unlock bonuses, players can look forward to increased Dragon-type Pokemon spawns and a special set of accompanying research tasks for the next week.

The Ultra Unlock bonus weeks were awarded to Pokemon GO players for teaming up to complete several worldwide challenges during the recent totally virtual GO Fest 2020 event. While "mysterious" Pokemon and Unovan Pokemon will be featured for the second and third weeks respectively, Pokemon Trainers now have the opportunity to easily capture rare Dragon-types from July 31, 1 PM PDT, until August 7, 1 PM PDT. Aside from increased Dragon-type spawns, and the return of Rayquaza to five-star raids, players will also have the chance to complete the Ultra Unlock 2020 Timed Research tasks.

All things considered, the tasks at hand aren't too difficult to complete. Even the tougher challenges, like scoring excellent throws, are softened by the fact that the throws don't have to be consecutive. Likewise, locating 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts should prove simpler than usual with the recent addition of balloon-borne Rocket Grunts - do beware of an encounter with Giovanni's powerful Shadow Suicune, though.

With 7 days of time before it expires, players have ample time to work through the (presumably) first of three Ultra Unlock 2020 Timed Research sets. Although players can already expect to see Dratini, Deino, and other Dragon-type friends, frequently throughout the week, a chance at a possible shiny with assuredly above-average stats shouldn't be overlooked. Pokemon Trainers should especially be on the lookout for Shiny Deino, which will be making its first appearances this Dragon Week.

Pokemon GO is available now on the App Store and Google Play.
