Pokemon GO is celebrating the Christmas holidays all this week with Special Spawns, Bonuses, more raid Pokemon, and even holiday outfits for some Pokemon. Players can get ice-type Pokemon for the winter to add to their collections through raiding, research, hatching, and even just out in the wild. One of these ice-types that they can come across is the very festive Delibird.

About Delibird

Delibird is an Ice and Flying type Pokemon. He appears as a red bird with white markings and what looks like a sack of presents, similar to Santa, making it the perfect Pokemon to help bring in the holiday season. This is most likely why Niantic included Delibird in previous years' Pokemon GO holiday events, too.

Delibird can be found in raids as a Tier 3 raid boss with a 8,791 CP. His attacks are mostly ice, including Ice Punch and Icy Wind. Players can also find a shiny version of Delibird, too; the shiny version of this Ice-and-Flying-type Pokemon has a purple feathers instead of the red ones.

Battling Delibird

Since Delibird is a Flying type Pokemon as well as an Ice type, it will not be as weak to fire as some other ice-types, like Abomasnow. Instead, Delibird will need to be countered with strong Rock attacks. The strongest rock Pokemon that players can send in to battle this bird will be Tyranitar, Terrakion, Rampardos, Landorus, or other very strong Rock types. Players will want to make sure to use those Rock attacks like Smack Down and Rock Slide. Since Delibird is doubly weak against Rock, this will be the most effective strategy.

Delibird is also weak to Fire, Electric, and Steel attacks, though. It has resistances against Grass, Bug, and Ground type attacks. Delibird is not the only Ice type Pokemon that will be available in raids and research for the 2019 Holiday week in Pokemon GO, but it is certainly a desirable Pokemon to catch. So make sure to get out this week with Rock Pokemon for raids to make sure to catch 'em all.

Pokemon GO is available for most Android and iOS mobile devices.
