Pokemon GO Community Days are always a great opportunity for the game's fans. Not only do they encourage Pokemon GO players to get together and play as a group, but Community Days are also precious opportunities to find rare Pokemon in high numbers, like starter Pokemon from across the franchise's regions. As usual, Pokemon GO will wrap up the year with a December Community Day, offering powered-up Incense, increased Stardust gains, and special bundles to supply fans throughout the event. However, December 2021 won't have a Community Day like most others. The day is actually split into two days of special bonuses that don't focus on a single Pokemon.

Niantic has announced that December's two Community Days, taking place on the weekend of December 18th and 19th, will celebrate various Pokemon featured in 2020 and 2021's previous Community Days. Both the 18th and the 19th have individual lists of Pokemon that starred in recent Community Days; on each of those days, those Pokemon will share the spotlight once again. This weekend of Pokemon GO festivities sounds like a fantastic opportunity for players everywhere, helping them catch valuable Pokemon in droves and making up for any Community Days they may have missed.

December 18's Community Day Pokemon

The December 18 Community Day will star slightly more Pokemon than the 19th. There's six Pokemon planned for the first day's events: Machop, Roselia, Swablu, Gible, Snivy, and Fletchling. Some of these Pokemon are pretty hard to find in the wild in Pokemon GO, so the Community Day is a valuable opportunity as always. Shiny hunters will also be happy to recall that all of these Pokemon have Shiny versions in Pokemon GO, meaning the hunt for colorful variants is on. Niantic will helpfully increase the maximum Pokemon storage cap in December, so it'll be even easier to collect shiny Snivys and Gibles on the 18th.

December 19's Community Day Pokemon

There's only five Pokemon at the center of the second December Community Day, but one could argue the Pokemon it features are more precious. On the 19th, Pokemon GO players can expect to encounter Eevee, Duskull, Shinx, Tepig, and Oshawott in high numbers. It'll be great to see so many starter Pokemon in the wild on that day, and Eevees are always very valuable to Pokemon GO fans. In fact, catching Eevees will be especially important thanks to the special moves that Eeveelutions can learn during these Community Days.

December Community Day's Other Stars

Eggs and Raids will also be modified during the December Community days. Hatching 2km Eggs during the event can get players a Charmander, Weedle, Abra, Gastly, Rhyhorn, Magikarp, Porygon, Elekid, Magby, Seedot, Piplup, or Budew. The special list of Raid Pokemon is almost identical, except Budew won't appear in Raids, whily Electabuzz and Magmar will be featured in Raids instead of Elekid and Magby. Just like the Pokemon appearing in the wild on these days, every Pokemon appearing in Raids and hatching from Eggs has a shiny variant, so shiny hunters will be kept busy on the 18th and 19th.

Niantic has opted for a very non-traditional model for the December Community Day, but it seems like a good idea, especially since Pokemon GO has had a complicated life in 2020 and 2021. It seems appropriate that the game will celebrate the game's accomplishments in past months and give players a second chance to find Community Day stars. Even at 5 years old, Pokemon GO is constantly growing and changing. There's a lot of Pokemon who've yet to join the game, so Pokemon GO fans should keep their eyes on 2022, especially as Pokemon Legends: Arceus' release draws near. There's certainly major events on the horizon, but for now, the December Community Days sound like a solid conclusion to the year.

Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS devices.
