At this point in the game, one of the driving forces that gets Pokemon GO players out and about is Battle Raids. The feature offers the best chance to defeat and catch powerful pokemon, but, unfortunately, the battles are restricted to a limited number of hours each day (presumably for safety and legal reasons). Pokemon GO players had already been annoyed about the limited hours that Battle Raids are available, but the latest Daylight Saving Time update makes those hours even more difficult to work with in some regions.

On the eastern coast of the United States, Battle Raid eggs have started spawning as early as 5am. This means that raiding is pretty much completely dead by 7pm, despite the fact that days are still growing longer as spring approaches. Players were hoping that the early spawn time was a mistake on Sunday, but the eggs appeared at the same time on Monday, which has caused some serious concerns for players trying to hunt down legendaries.

Having eggs appear and hatch hours before most players are even awake, and then reserving most of the Battle Raid times for the day during the traditional workday makes it very difficult for most gamers to actually participate in the events. Players who finish their jobs around 5pm or later have less than two hours to get out and use their raid passes.

Pokemon GO EX Raid battle pass improvements

The main theory behind the restricted raid hours is that Niantic doesn't want to be sending players off to gyms after dark (when most community parks are closed). That gets a little complicated this time of year when the game is hatching eggs before the sun is up, rather than until 8 or 9pm.

Niantic has yet to comment on the raid times this week, but hopefully the team is hearing the complaints from the community. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that the egg times are pushed forward at least an hour in the coming days.

Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
