The grind to max level in Pokemon GO is incredibly long and, in some opinions, partially without much reward. The playing field levels out a bit after level 30 and the primary benefit to actually hitting the insane amount of experience needed to ding 40 is being first to gain access to new features that are slowly rolled out to endgame players first. That said, the game's most hardcore fans still might be in for a return to the XP grind.

Level 40 has been the cap in Pokemon GO since the game launched and, although players have asked many times, there have never been any solid hints that the max level might be increased in the near future. Despite that, the latest datamine includes some very surprising code that includes item reward breakdowns for hitting levels 41 through 50.

Perhaps more so than usual, it's important to emphasis that this code has been datamined through the game's master file and is not officially confirmed or endorsed by Niantic or The Pokemon Company. Plans could change entirely, but for now, the datamine definitely seems to be pointing in the direction of a new level cap coming in the near future. Considering how long it takes to actually hit level 40, this new grind would likely be an incredibly tedious event.

This code goes on and one up to level 50, outlining the rewards for each milestone. The code does not include the amount of XP that would be required to hit each level, so it would be very interesting to see if Niantic decided to stick with the massive exponential leaps needed for endgame level ups or if things have been toned down.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
