The fabled day has arrived, as Pokemon GO has finally decided to add the fan-favorite legendary Dark-type Darkrai with its Halloween Event 2019. Other additions also include new Shadow Pokemon, new cosmetics, the addition of Yamask, increased Ghost- and Dark-type spawns, double catch candy, double hatch candy, double transfer candy, and of course, new special research. For those who want to participate and/or catch Darkrai, this event begins on October 17 at 1 PM and end November 1 at 1 PM PT.

Darkrai Stats and Moveset

Pokemon GO's Darkrai has a max capture CP of 2136 (no weather boost, 100% IV, at level 20) and 2671 (weather boosted, 100% IV, level 25). Darkrai has a relatively high defense and attack stat, so players will want as many as possible to take it down, ideally under the best weather conditions. Best case scenario: 3 players may be able to take it down in the best conditions, but closer to 7 would make it a lot easier.

Here's Darkrai's move set:

Fast Moves - Snarl, Feint Attack

Charge Moves - Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast

If it has Dark Pulse, pull out the Fighting types. If it Has Focus Blast, pull out dual types Gardevoir and Togekiss.

Darkrai Counters

Pokemon GO players need to prioritize Fighting and Fairy types, but Darkrai is weak to Bug-types as well.

A-Team: Machamp (Counter/Dynamic Punch), Togekiss (Charm/Dazzling Gleam), Gardevoir (Charm/Dazzling Gleam)

B-Team: Hariyama (Counter/Dynamic Punch), Breloom (Counter/Dynamic Punch), Granbull (Charm/Play Rough)

C-Team: Emboar (Low Kick/Focus Blast), Lucario (Counter/Close Combat), Yanmega (Bug Bite/ Bug Buzz)

Best Weather to Face Darkrai

The Gen 4 Pokemon Darkrai is boosted by Fog weather, meaning those who want to catch one with the best stats ought to try to battle it while it is foggy. If Pokemon GO players are just trying to add Darkrai to their collection, Cloudy weather should be priortized, as it will buff both Fighting- and Fairy-type moves.
